VIRGINIA BEACH DRYWALL REPAIR FROM WATER & TERMITE DAMAGE

One of our customers in Virginia Beach had water and termite damage. Since termites commonly eat the walls from the inside out, by the time the client noticed the damage, it was much too late. A termite infestation gone amok can break through to the bones of the installation. That is, hitting studs and joints near the sheetrock, putting the structure in jeopardy. At times like that, you have to start over.

Working with Termites

Termites are organized pests. They sustain entire colonies by eating and tunneling through wood and other materials. As they do, they compromise the structural integrity of walls and roofs. Follow these tips and prevent an invasion.

  • Make sure the soil around the foundation is dry and has proper drainage.
  • Avoid piling firewood too close to the house. Make sure any trees you plant are also away from wood structures to cut off any bridging.
  • Reduce any openings around the house that would offer termites access to the structure.
  • Inspect periodically—time is of the essence.

The Z Line Process

We removed all the drywall and replaced the damaged framing. We installed new insulation, plywood, and drywall. When damage is less severe, it is possible to replace only the drywall section. Even in those cases, inspecting the rest of the structure is important to ensure a cohesive result.
